Launch of the Solenn Heussaff Art Wine in Tube

Wine in tubes?! Well, that’s new!

That’s what I thought too, until I learned that this has actually been around since 2007! The concept originated from Bordeaux and was created by an oenologist and a sommelier with the aim of preserving the freshness of wine.

Wine in tubes. There is such a thing!

I found out that as soon as a wine bottle is opened, the contents must be consumed within two days. Otherwise, it begins to lose its crispness. What a waste! Do you really get to finish a whole bottle of wine in only two days?

Hence, the solution: provide a glass’ worth of fresh wine via a more compact packaging, which helps retain the wine’s brilliance. Whenever a wine lover wishes to taste premium wine, there is no more need to open a new bottle of wine. More freshness and less wastage! What a clever idea! For restaurant owners, this is music to the ears.

Wine in Tube (WIT®) Philippines brings this interesting innovation to the country that lets wine aficionados experience exquisite wine by the glass, especially wine that is not often available by the glass in local restaurants. All products are manufactured and bottled in WIT France’s headquarters, ensuring that oenophiles get nothing but original products of excellent quality.

WIT Philippines has partnered with French-Filipina actress / TV host / model / singer / artist Solenn Heussaff, who designed the artwork of the wine in tubes. Her designs are featured on two wines that she herself has chosen: the Chateau La Tour de Bessan and Domaine de la Roche Moreau.

Solenn Heussaff showcases her designs on the wine tubes

Recently, WIT Philippines® had a launch event for the Solenn Heussaff Art Wine in Tube held at the Society Lounge, and they asked me to host this event, which was attended mostly by WIT® Philippines’ business partners including chefs, restaurateurs, and wine connoisseurs. A French sommelier, Mr. Edouard Vauthier, was the special guest, and he introduced everyone to the wines handpicked by Solenn. One lucky guest also won a prize: a box of four wine tubes – two of each kind — with Solenn’s artworks. And of course, Solenn herself graced the event with her presence, shared about her love for wine, and mingled with the guests after the event.

Me after the event: “Whew! I can relax now! More wine please!”

Here is a video of the event highlights:

The event ran smoothly and it turned out quite well! But believe it or not, I only had 45 minutes to prepare for this! Due to sudden change of plans, the team from WIT® Philippines only got to meet me on the day of the event itself. I only had 10 minutes of briefing and 35 minutes to write an event script, but I think because of the adrenaline rush (and maybe some help from the wine I sipped), I managed to pull it off! Whew! Mr. Juan Patag said said that I “performed marvelously” and “was able to deliver more than what we’ve expected,” so that’s a relief! Thank you, Juan! 🙂 He and CJ from WIT® Philippines were so supportive and cool, and Solenn herself was so laid-back, that I was able to relax and just have fun with it, despite the time pressure. Despite the sophistication of the product (luxury wines), the guests (Solenn Heussaff and a number of French executives and culinary authorities), and the venue (The Society Lounge), it was really just a fun and casual 30-minute event.

As I was being briefed about the product, I got even more impressed with it. What I love about the wines in tube is that they make for a great gift. They’re classy, convenient, and unique! I wish I knew about this while I was planning my wedding last year. These are delightful items to give away as souvenirs, whether it’s for a wedding, a birthday party, or a corporate event. Plus, they can even be personalized and customized. The glass tubes could be silk screened with logos and other labels.

Since these are luxury wines, we can all expect that these wines in tube will cost a fortune, right? Surprisingly, the wine tubes range from only PHP 280 to PHP 520 (USD 5 to 11)while gift sets range from only PHP 1,550 to PHP 6,695 (USD 32 to 136)! The wines in tube with Solenn’s artwork are priced at only PHP 480 per tube (USD 10) or PHP 2,250 (USD 46) for a gift set with 4 wine tubes!

It’s time to schedule a wine party with your friends. Why not? Or maybe I should say “wine not?”

  2. I have never heard about this concept of wine in a tube before, but it does make sense. The packaging is very beautiful, you can see the amount of work that went into the design and I think they would be perfect as gifts due to their elegant feel. Don’t they make them in bigger sizes? In my house, a bottle of wine once open, doesn’t really see the light of the next day. 🙂

  3. Wow! This is amazing. I haven’t heard about wines in tubes! Looking at the picture i can say that it was impressive. It was artistically and meticulously crafted, i presume. My husband collects wine and im sure he would love to have this at his mini bar at home..

  4. This is such a brilliant idea! I like the designs made by Solenn. It looks elegant and chic. Do they come with a free stand just like in the picture with Solenn? These would be awesome as gifts and for wine lovers. You get to taste an expensive wine but it will not break your budget.

  6. Solenn is a great artist, aside from being a model. She’s so artistic, that she able to make her passion into profit. I’ll be checking the website you provide and check the cool stuffs inside of it. Thanks!

  7. I’m still trying to learn how to appreciate wine up to know. What I recently liked are white wines from Chile. Now, I just learned that it’s whole lot better to consume wine within two days from opening. So, yeah, the wine in tube are just pure genius for those who are light drinkers. I wonder how long the wines were aged and how their taste was. I was also surprised by the cheapness of the wine in tubes.

  8. I’ve never heard about tubes and I’m French and I love wine haha. For a personal use I don’t think it would be great but like you said, for restaurant or bars/clubs it’s absolutely perfect. No need to open a new bottle or reuse an old one if someone wants only a glass of wine for dinner or so. The prices don’t look to expensive so far but I don’t know. It’s the kind of thing that could get overpriced when it’s gonna be more popular maybe? Oh and those hors-d’oeuvres look so damn delicious!

  10. Wow, it’s also my first time to hear about wine in tubes. It’s like the sachet variant for wine, haha! Seriously, it looks elegant and good for gift giving and can also be handy when traveling to a place where wine is either too pricey, or forbidden (if a person is kinda risk taker).
