The jobsDB Mobile App 2.0

After I graduated in 2006, I immediately started to look for a job. Back then, walk-in job applications were common. In my business attire matched with slippers, I would walk under the sweltering sun, brown envelopes containing my resumes in tow and a pair of high heeled shoes in my bag, as I hopped from one building to another. I didn’t even know for sure if the companies I was headed to had a job opening. I just took my chances. And then, as I got closer to the office of my desired company, I would discreetly remove my slippers and change into my more appropriate heels. And then what? I would be greeted by the company’s receptionist or guard who would instruct me to “Just leave your resume here and wait for a call.” I did as I was told and then left the building, all tired and sweaty, as I set off to do my rounds again. I did not like it one bit, but at that time, personally handing in one’s resume (even if it was just to the lobby guard) was the best way to be noticed by the employers.
Thank God times have changed! Jobs have become more accessible to people over the past few years. There is no need for guessing games as a lot of employers now post their vacancies on the internet and even prefer to receive resumes online. Thanks to technology, jobseekers can now find out about the latest vacancies without even leaving their homes – and putting on their business attire!
Perhaps the best breakthrough in modern-day jobseeking is online job search engines. These job search portals make the act of finding work more convenient in an organized and efficient way. One such job search service that really helped me a lot was jobsDB
There are a lot of job search sites around, but I used jobsDB frequently because:
  • It was really easy to use. Just a few clicks, and I’m done!
  • There is a wide selection of jobs to browse through and choose from. I used to spend hours just viewing every job that seemed promising because there were just so many!
  • I could upload an unlimited number of resumes and cover letters, so when I apply for a specific job, I can be sure that the CV and cover letter I use are the most suitable for the job I am trying out for.
  • It was always updated. Everyday, they would post new job openings.
  • They listed jobs not only in the Philippines but even in other countries. This is a useful feature if you’re looking for overseas work.
  • I actually got a lot of calls from the potential employers that I came across with in the site.
jobsDB really spared me from the hassles of looking for a job. It was as if they just served the job vacancies to me on a silver platter while I effortlessly clicked away and applied for jobs in the comfort of my own home. And because it was such a quick process, I not only saved a lot of time, but I was also able to apply for numerous jobs. Imagine, if I applied for at least 5 jobs a day, everyday, my chances of scoring a job were really great!
The jobsDB website made job hunting a breeze for me. And now, they went a step further by making the jobseeking experience even easier with the help of the new jobsDB mobile app!

Because of this, jobsDB matches me with potential work in the fields of journalism, public relations, and other related industries. I have been alerted about jobs as a freelance writer, technical writer, and a few more occupations close to my area of expertise.
