When I was a few months away from giving birth four years ago, my best friend and one of my closest friends organized a lovely baby shower for me and Andi. (Read about it here). Since our friends kept asking us what we want and need for the baby, I decided to consolidate everything in our wish list, upload it on Google Drive, and give them access to it for easier viewing. Now, just for fun, I’m sharing it with you!
Keep in mind that I made this file in 2017 so of course, some of the items here are most probably not available anymore and the prices have probably increased since then, but you might still find this useful as it can give you an idea of what baby essentials to ask for in case you are pregnant, or what items to give as a gift to an expectant mama!
NOTE: I’ve also added some of my comments under some of the slides!
NOTE: None of our friends got this for us but I was able to buy pre-loved! I got one for PHP 300 and the other one for PHP 600. (I got the PHP 300 one from celebrity / actress Chynna Ortaleza at a bazaar! Haha!) I just made sure to wash them really well before making Andi wear them. (I probably wouldn’t do that anymore now though, because of Covid!) For my next baby, I’d probably try Love To Dream swaddles. i was impressed with their swaddles when they got me to host their launch event.
NOTE: So many of our friends gave us Uniqlo stuff! It was like our baby shower was sponsored by Uniqlo! Hahaha! I guess this was the easiest to buy. We got a mix of products and gift certificates, and we even got some duplicate designs, but we didn’t mind. Not only did Andi get to use them all but she used them for a really long time! I don’t know what it is about Uniqlo’s baby clothes but they seem to magically adjust to the baby’s size as he/she grows. Andi still uses one of her Uniqlo shirts from her baby shower now that she’s 3!!!
NOTE: Since no one got this for us, we just got it ourselves.
NOTE: I tried cloth diapering but later on realized that it was just too much trouble so I ended up donating all of Andi’s cloth diapers to an orphanage. I thought I’d love them but I guess it’s not for everyone!
NOTE: I got a secondhand one of this from Carousell for only PHP 1,500 then later on sold it for the same price!
NOTE: I actually wish I had two of these so I have a back-up while the other one is being washed!
NOTE: Not kidding about the SHOCKING PINK part. My mom bought a hot pink crib and Mike couldn’t stand looking at it for even 10 seconds. He told my mom that we want to have it replaced with something that was a little less LOUD! Haha!
We were pretty happy because we got a lot of the items in our list! Since I was a first-time parent, I didn’t really know what to ask for and which items are not really necessary. But now that I’m already a mom, I’ll most likely have different items in my wish list next time!
