Ask me what I do and I’ll tell you that I’m a “Marketing Officer / Wedding & Events Host / Singer / Writer / Blogger.” Do those slashes make it sound like I have so much on my plate? Well, I do… but I feel a sense of fulfillment in being a “multi-passionate slashie.”
Back in the day, people were content with holding one job and sticking to it. But in this day and age, many are stepping out of the traditional confines of being limited to a single occupation or title. People of today’s generation are now diversifying and utilizing all of their skills to pursue their many passions. Boxes are out, slashes are in. Yes, we now live in the “slash generation.”
The life of a slashie is generally fun and fulfilling, but it can be taxing! Slashies are the ultimate multi-taskers. Ours days are filled with meetings, deadlines, or other responsibilities. To us, “busy” is a way of life.
So when I got an e-mail invitation from Nuffnang and Nestle Fruit Selections Yogurt that said:
“We think you’re a Super / Star, so we’ve prepared a special treat just for you and others like you!”
Can’t wait to find out what it is? Here’s a clue!
Clue #1: Fun, out-of-town getaway to be held on September 29, 2014!”
An out-of-town getaway was just what I needed at that moment! Plus, I’ve always loved Nestle Fruit Selections Yogurt, so even with the vagueness of the details, I confirmed my attendance right then and there! Besides, how can you refuse when someone calls you a “super / star”?!
We were told that the meeting place was at Pancake House at BGC, but we had no idea that breakfast was part of the surprise treat! As if the out-of-town getaway wasn’t nice enough already, we had our fill of pancakes and waffles. For our drinks, they gave each of us a bottle of Nestle Fruit Selections Yogurt.
After breakfast, everyone boarded the bus en route to a place called The Greenery in Bulacan. When we finally got to the place, I immediately felt all my cares disappear.

When I posted some of the photos of this place on Instagram, someone left a comment and asked “Is the place really as gorge as the photos?” I really don’t like the word “gorge” but yes, this place is is really just as gorgeous as the photos! It’s hard to believe that it’s only an hour away from Manila! What a nice change from the chaos, pollution, and traffic that I encounter everyday in the city! As I took in the gorgeous (not “gorge”) scenery, I was refreshed and I wished that everyday could be like this.
It wasn’t just the resort itself that was picturesque. The venue set-up was also beautiful! The blue drapes and pillows, the fresh flowers and fruits, the wooden elements, and the light-colored furniture gave off a fresh and bucolic atmosphere.

The event was hosted by British-Filipino host, model, actress, and VJ Kat Alano, who explained to us why we were there.

She said that everyone who was invited to this event are Super / Stars, that is, the supermen and superwomen of this generation who are doing it all, the multi-hyphenates with a motley of passions, skills, interests, and even careers.

When I glanced around the event space and saw celebrities such as Patty Laurel-Filart and Kim Jones, as well as all other famous fashion bloggers, I thought to myself, “What am I doing here?! Why am I in the same event as Patty Laurel and Kim Jones? There must be some mistake!” But after Kat told us that all of us in that room — whether our title is “model / actress / blogger” or “mother / activist / food lover” — IS, in fact, a super / star, that’s when I realized that there was actually no mistake. I am just like them and they are just like me: we are all versatile pursuers of our passions.

It was great to meet the very lovely and down-to-earth Patty Laurel, who is always like a ray of sunshine! She was such a nice girl. She even told me to join her and her friends for a photo.
Because all of us were super / stars in our own right, Nuffnang and Nestle made sure we were given the super / star treatment by treating us to an appetizing lunch buffet! We just had a full breakfast at Pancake House a few hours before and it was eating time once again! But, hey, no one’s complaining! The food was on the healthy side but they were all well-prepared and really delicious! I attend a lot of events, and the food in this event was one of the best I’ve had!

It was scorching hot that day, but it was raining yogurt, which made everything so much better! There were even two refrigerators full of all kinds of yogurt and yogurt drinks! Each of us were free to take as many as we wanted, whatever flavor we liked. I should have brought a bigger bag with me!

I have always been a fan of Nestle Fruit Selections Yogurt. I’m one of those people that can’t eat a meal without having dessert after, but since I have to cut back on sweets, I substitute sugary food with yogurt. (My best friend can attest to this because we usually eat yogurt whenever we’re done having lunch together!) When I eat yogurt to satisfy my craving for sweets, I don’t feel deprived because it’s yummy and filling. One time, I had to go on a fast and couldn’t eat any solid food, so my meals consisted only of fruit juices and Nestle yogurt. I missed eating actual solid food but having yogurt made my fast more manageable.
As for the Nestle Fruit Selections yogurt drink, I like it just as much as the regular yogurt. It’s what I take when I want a sweet, refreshing drink minus the calories. Sometimes, when I don’t feel like eating much, I just load up on the yogurt drink and I immediately feel full!

After lunch, we all had to make our own Nestle Fruit Selections Yogurt TVC with the use of the Flipagram app. Here is mine, but without music:
I had to eat A LOT of yogurt for shooting purposes and for inspiration. I didn’t mind! I couldn’t stop eating it. I told Mike, “I must have had 5 of these already!” When he saw me eating another cup, he said, “And yet you’re still eating!”
After the event, all of us bloggers were given a sweet and creative gift by Nestle:
It’s a personalized clear tote with our photos! The blue bag inside is actually a sort of cooler which contained lots and lots of yogurt, good enough for almost a month! The bag also came with a cute strawberry USB. I love it! Not only is this gift useful and practical, it’s unique too!
Nestle and Nuffnang really went all out in making each one of us feel like super / stars!
